LEARN MORE The FACT: For Our Beloved Home, Japan~ Peleliu Island, the Site of a Deadly Battle (YouTube)In September 1944, the little-known deadly battle between Japan and the U.S. lasted over 70 days on Peleliu Island, Palau. The island, a Japanese mandate at the time, was attacked by about 40,000 U.S. soldiers. Colonel Kunio Nakagawa led a Japanese Army garrison of about 10,000 soldiers. The Japanese fought against an enemy 4 times its size. In spring 2015, Ryoko Shaku, the Happiness Realization Party leader, visited Peleliu Island, the site of a deadly battle.
